Card Review: Mariner
Rating: Mid tier
Skills: Frostbite 5, Frost Armor 6, Soulreap 6
Mariner is a 4 star card acquired through the Sky Arena Event.
Mariner is the only creature with the skill Soulreap. Soulreap deals an additional 120% basic attack damage to summoned creatures.
The two most frequently faced summoned creatures Grizzly of Predator and the Boars of Berserker. These creatures come with massive HP pools that the additional 120% damage from Mariner's low attack is not going to be of consequence.
In addition to that, Berserker heroes usually have an anti-magic talent called 'Spiky Bits', which decimates enemy decks that use magic. Mariner's Frostbite skill makes him unusable against most Berserkers you face because of this reason.
Other summoned creatures in the game are Virgil summoned by Virgo (immune to physical damage) and Bewitcher's clone (with darkclone skill that converts physical damage into HP restored).
That makes Mariner a rare and uniquely useless card with a uniquely useless skill.
Edit: As per my friend Tanis, Soulreap work on Oceanus clone as well reanimated creatures of Armageddon. That makes him slightly more useful.
Hold on to Mariner because this card might become transmutation fuel in the future.
